Office Design Case Study: SBHG

SBHGMoving offices is a significant investment for any business, and we are proud to have worked on some incredible projects over the years across a variety of sectors including; media, banking, finance and technology with a strong portfolio of projects for housing associations.

Throughout our time in the industry, we have built many strong relationships with our clients. And at the core of our business is Rapport. We believe it is a crucial component to the successful outcome of a project, from a clear brief.

In particular, Rapport was integral to two for Shepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) including SBHG HQ and SBHG Craft Court. We sat down with David Blackburn, to talk through his time at SBHG on the projects and to understand the learnings and effectiveness of both projects. David, as Director of Business Support, was key to the success of the project supporting internal communication between staff, management and the delivery team.

David, what learnings did you take away from working with Rapport on the Shepherds Bush housing projects?

Your office accommodation is one of your most valuable assets. Over the life of your tenure, you need to ensure you manage the space in a way that is responsive, affordable, sustainable and safe; leveraging the floor plan as a tool to support organisational culture and assist in the delivery of ever more efficient and effective services.

Relocating from their existing offices at Croxley Business Park required a level of management and expertise that controlled project costs through both the design development and contractual tender phases.

Rapport’ have just completed a contract for Ancestry UK the UK’s favourite family history website, offering members access to 1 billion searchable UK family history records.

The project involved Ancestry relocating from their London office in Hammersmith to the 4th floor at Strand Bridge House in the heart of London’s West End, next to Somerset House. Rapport’ appointed as Project Managers, worked to ensure set cost constraints were met through the contract tender process and the project delivered high-quality results.

Design by M Moser Associates provides a multifunctional and vibrant work environment with an emphasis on natural materials and light. The inspired use of colour denotes Ancestry’s corporate image and provides a visual experience alongside a practical environment for all users.

Principle Contractor, Parogon Contracts Ltd delivered site works over a 12-week programme. Works included: fully glazed meeting facilities, complex joinery installations and high specification IT and audio systems.

Rapport’ are delighted to announce that works are now complete for Mintec UK, a British owned data firm founded in 1982 offering statistical information and insightful market analysis to suppliers, retailers, manufacturers and food service companies across the globe.

Arranged over two floors, the space at Gloucester House includes a brand new interconnecting staircase to separate the floors and to create and encourage interaction across business groups and teams.

Providing an open-plan environment for all users, catering to people’s different working styles, utilising current technology, we delivered smart state of the art solutions to an agreed cost and timeline.
