Housing Association Merger Discussions

Two of the largest housing associations in the UK have entered into early discussions regarding a potential merger to create 127,000 new homes, according to recent press reports that could be the most significant and pivotal merger for the housing association sector in Europe.

Here at Rapport we specialize in workspace design, office fit-out and office relocation, and have delivered a number of key projects within the Housing Association sector. The services the housing organisations provide deliver tremendous support right across the social sector.  This in turn requires a high level of consideration within the designed work environment to staff workflow, communication, collaboration and welfare.

To address this our delivery teams work hand in hand throughout each project with Human Resources, Operation Teams and Management to ensure changes affecting employees and function within the workspace are fully considered and a holistic approach is adopted to minimise disruption for employees.

Jeanette Grover the Project Director of Rapport says ‘High level engagement and consultation during the early design stage is critical in any organisational change. Our workshop process encourages employees and directors to identify how they can work smarter, increase productivity and take ownership within their key roles to improve value.’

A recent article in the Guardian included the following comment from Mike Ward Circle’s Director of Growth and Mobility said, ‘The most successful mergers will deliver benefits of both economies of scale with local focus and tenant empowerment. It is crucial that organisations looking to partner or merge have a shared vision and values. By being part of a larger group you can potentially benefit from increased investment in communities and help customers manage the impact of welfare benefit reform. As long as the transition is well managed, we believe you can do both.’
